Thanks Ali, I plan to revisit this project when I have some free time and re model the curtains. You are not the first one to notice it :)
i like it so much ...but i wish if the curtain will have more detailing .. but great one ..
Thanks guys, it was a fun project.
Nice work Aubrey, :)
Nice, thanks a lot for sharing.

thanks alot for such a kind reply..i will love to use the last work flow of duplicating and blending with opacity.. thanks.

i loved the detailed view of the table.it looks photo-realistic.nice work and thanks for sharing.it would be nice if u share your work flow on this.like environment settings, texturing, the mood and post production.. thanks alot for sharing
Thanks for the kind comments. As far as the work flow goes. Lighting: Simple vray sun, portals, 2 accent vray planes and for the first time I used a vrayambient light. The camera was a vrayphysical camera with a subtle DOF effect. Textures: Materials like the brass and green glass on the bankers lamp are simple vray materials I created. The book, pages, map etc. are just textures I have collected from the web. The wood textures are from arroway. Post production: not a lot was done in post, just simple adjustments like curves, levels and color balance. A neat trick I learned was to crate a duplicate layer with overlay as the blend and then adjust the opacity until it gives a nice contrast. Glad you liked it :)

I think you did good job .... your lighting looks good . I mean you knew what to do ..... I don`t like it`s architecture but you made me to become interested in it...... there is some problem in your curtain .... but overall I like it
Architecture like art, some styles you like some you don't. I love the old Victorian stuff, my British background I guess :) Thanks for the comments, yea those curtains will have to be re done when I have some time.
Nice Aubrey
Thanks Robert.
Nice Aubrey

everything just are great! except the curtains. And yes, i also think that spot on the wall is an artifacts also. which is good to make it look more older looks. regards, muck
I like the atmosphere mod of your image. Also good modeling, just try to improve the curtains.
Thanks Antoine. Those are not artifacts, some are shadows coming from outside trees etc. and the wall has a old stucco like bump to give it the aged look. I also used a small noise in the material to give it a little discoloration.
this is good stuff, Aubrey. Your modeling looks great. 1 question: the hero shot... the walls on the right have some discolouration. are those artifacts?? (see image).
Oh, I see. Well I am the client :) it was a personal project. The original intent was a model of a round Victorian style table. Once I had the model done I wanted an environment to set the table in. I started to create the basic room and just started adding elements as I went along. I was having so much fun doing it that this was the result. The table is off in the corner and is no longer the focus :) I worked on it a little here and a little there as there was no timeline for completion. Since every model but the wood chairs was created for this scene it did take me a while. The wood chairs were a model I did for another scene. If I had to guess I would say I have about 30+ hours in it.
I meant information like. how long did it take you to finish the project? what client says? how will client use these renderings etc. :)
I assume you meant the books and not the shelf. The books are supposed to be volumes in a series like a encyclopedia set so the covers are all the same. I do need more book cover textures though :) The curtains are supposed to be the really thick red velvet ones. I guess If I have to explain that then I didn't hit the nail on the head as it were. I had to tweak the texture a bit as the color bleed from the velvet was really bad. I did use a curve adjustment in PS. What details would you like to know?
A little curve correction may work well. I think you did not put a lot of time behind your bookshelf. they are too generic. you need to arrange them more randomly. need little more work on curtain too. let me know little more detail about the project. :)
