Wow. You have got to love the fact this brief says 2013 or later, gwahahaha.

Anyways. All the best to those competing -here's to a good showing.

2012 actually. That was a typo.

I see -I actually thought 2014 was in the pipeline, despite what I've been hearing about Autodesk and their reluctance towards Windows 8.

I am new to this, so may I ask whether all questions should be directed to the email in the Brief, or can some be posted in the Comments here?

Thank you beforehand.

Autodesk has to be very careful about speaking about new versions before the are released. Because they are a publicly traded company SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) rules dictate that if they make any announcement of a new product they have to declare revenues differently which could drastically affect their bottom line and thus share prices. It's a major deal. People get fired over screwing up this sort of thing.

Regarding questions about the competition, feel free to post them here or email to 3dsmaxhero@cgarchitect.com

That makes sense.

My question is regarding the definition of post production software mentioned in article 2 of the Brief, in the General section. Does that include 3rd party render engines, or is this by definition of the product per se a competition of 3dsmax with either its proprietary render engine or the mentalray that it's bought and distributed?

Jeff Mottle

You can use any 3rd party renderer that works with 3ds Max.

Architecture doesnt include interiors ?

Jeff Mottle

said 2 October 2012 1:15 am
@Mazen, no interiors are still considered architecture. Was there a rule or something you read that made you think otherwise?

Mazen Samir

said 2 October 2012 3:21 am
No I just thought it would be mentioned seperate than architecture, thanks for the clarification.
