The Making Of Country Home

Hi all. My name is Nicolás Molina managing partner of http://www.90-grados.com/, sharing with you from Cordoba, Argentina this tutorial on our work "Country Home". Thanks Jeff for giving us this opportunity.

MODELING

This is a project for a future presentation townhome "country" in an environment that emphasizes the architecture. In this case it was based on a model from 3DDD.ru, which was then completed with a new roof, ridges, drains, curtains, deck etc.

 Original model.

Detail and ridge tiles, beveled walls.

Detail of drains, curtains and beveled corners.

3D Deck planking added.

Detail of the deck. They moved some planks to add imperfections. The same work was done on the roof.

LIGHTING AND CAMERAS

The scene is illuminated by a VRaySun and a 3D dome with a VRayLightMtl applied, which uses a map from VizPeople HDRI.

VRay Sun Settings.

Material applied to the 3D dome.

PhysicalCamera configuration. We added some imperfections to the ground next to the camera.

MATERIALS

The materials used are basic. We used VRayDirt in some cases and paid more attention to siding and drains.

VEGETATION

Vegetation was from Evermotion for flowering plants and Itrees for the trees and shrubs. We also used Multiscatter for the lawn.

Masks were used for the distribution of the two types of Multiscatter grasses: low near the home and higher as it moves away.

RENDERING

The final image was rendered at a resolution of 2500px wide using a fairly simple setup. It took a Quad Core no more than 4 hours.

Original render.

POST-PRODUCTION

Post-Production was done in Photoshop. We only used the reflection render element and did not do a lot of retouching. The biggest change was the curves and color balance.

Final render

As you will see is a fairly simple job. We wanted basic scene for further work that was efficient in terms of render times. I hope this tutorials has helped. Thanks for listening and good luck.

my computer is six core with 24GB of Ram. i can`t believe that is not possible for me to render a lot of vegetation. thanks for you help, appreciate. followed suggestions of @Bobby Parker to use proxies and SolidRocks and now everything is ok.
For this work I used a quadcore with 4GB of Ram. The configuration for the renders not very high, I guess this allowed me to do it smoothly. And all complex objects, the Proxy became, even for use MultiScatter. I can not think what else can help. Greetings.
i am using meshes. i am going to test converting to proxies. if it doens`t work i will try SolidRocks. as soon as i have the results, i`ll bring it much thanks
multiscatter scatter, but it doesn't convert. Are you scattering proxies or meshes? Have you tried SolidRock for scene optimization?
i already use multiscatter and it stills not work. do you have other suggestion?
25GB isn't that much. I have 7 machined, using DR, and I run out sometimes. When you find your scene is running out of RAM, you'll need to start utilizing proxies.
Try climbing the "Dynamic memory limit", "System", "Setting", "Render setup". This value may be around 2000 mb less than the RAM of your computer. Luck.
Hi Nicolas, do you can help me? 24000 mb have on the computer, render with 15000 and closed again, why does this happen? I can never make renders with many vegetations, need to solve this

I have a problem with my 3d when I render a scenes with much vegetation outside, the program closes. has this happened to anyone? can someone help me?
Hi Nicolas,i did not get that part about cylinder map which reinforces reflexes. http://www.cgarchitect.com/content/posts/features/2013_05/country_home/image12.jpg Is that a cylinder primitive , applied a hdr ? http://www.cgarchitect.com/content/posts/features/2013_05/country_home/image16.jpg That background is from sphere or cylinder ? I did not understand how you used this cylinder, can you please explain this in detail if possible?
Great Job,Thank you
Thank you very much!
