Competitors

Over the next Three months competitors will compete in two challenges. Competitors will stretch their imaginations and skills to demonstrate their prowess in the art of architectural illustration and animation. While the ultimate winner and finalists in the competition will take home some amazing prizes, the goal of this competition is to promote architectural illustration and encourage its advancement through community participation and critiques. The winner will be announced the 2008 Mundos Digitales Conference in La Coruna, Spain.

Christiaan Klaassen

I was born in Bristol (UK) on June 7th 1983.  I spent most of my time growing up in Surrey where i studied Art and design at school and then onto Farnham Art college to do a foundation course in Art and Design. This was when i got my very first experience in 3D.  I then went to University of Greenwich to study 3D Digital Design which i graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 Ba(hons).

It was at my final exhibition of my university work that i was introduced to my current employers Rock Hunter who specialise in Architectural Visualisation. Since 2005 i have learned more and more about Architecture and 3D and have progressed to a senior artist working with still images, animations and design.

Gary Boyle

Ernesto Pacheco

I was born in Mexico city and now reside in the United States. I studied architecture for two years in Mexico and have taken various computer graphics/multimedia coursework at colleges in the U.S.. However, I owe my artistic background to having taken part in drawing and painting classes early on and throughout life. This was the beginning of my passion for artistic endeavors. My interest in computers began in elementary school with games; Quake to be exact. I was interested in how these games were developed and dreamed about involving myself in the computer graphics field.

Soon after coming to the U.S. I began working within the architectural field and began self-study of computer generated architectural illustration. I became adept in various graphic softwares which I now use to express my artistic visions in a variety of unique ways. The skill that I have developed has also allowed me to found an architectural visualization studio in affiliation with some old college friends (www.virtualgfx.com). Our portfolio consists of works that reflect the highest standards in the industry. I have made many accomplishments since I began my journey yet I still feel that the best is yet to come.

Derek Jackson

I was initially inspired to want to work with computer graphics at a young age after watching films like Tron and Jurassic Park. This led to lots of failed attempts to create masterpieces with MS Paint.

Although I focused my education towards working in the videogame industry, after graduating in Computer Science I ended up working in architectural illustration. I've since been employed by Norwich and London-based LSI Architects for over five years now, heading up their Graphics & Visualisation Dept. I also produce conceptual designs through my DJ Illustration site (www.djillustration.com) in my spare time, when I'm not playing Mariokart.

I've been an active member of the CG Architect forum since 2003 where I've learnt a lot from the many talented artists. I'm also a new member of the Society of Architectural Illustration in the UK.

I use Form Z for modelling and Maxwell Render for lighting and rendering of my images, with post-processing in Photoshop.

Although I feel this competition will push me beyond anything I've done before, I'm looking forward to being involved and seeing what everyone comes up with!
