How to Enter


The following section details everything you need to know about entering the competition, the entry guidelines as well as all of the rules that will apply to the competition. Please read this page very carefully as all decisions will be based upon the information on this page.








     
STEP 1 - REGISTRATION
Description Before you can qualify for the competition you must first be a registered member of CGarchitect.com. Your registration will allow you to submit your qualification images, participate in the challenges (if you qualify), as well as view the images that are submitted by others.

STEP 2 - QUALIFICATION ROUND (March 17 - March 30)
Description The qualification round is open to everyone. To enter you must submit 2 of your best images as well as your entry from the qualification challenge. Submissions can be entered using the challenge qualification form using the link below. At the end of the qualification round, all of the submitted images will be evaluated by public vote. The number of competitors allowed into the competition will be determined by the scores of the public vote. Competitors will participate in the 2 challenges spanning from March 17, 2008 to June 2, 2008.

Submission Guidelines

GENERAL

1.
This competition is open to everyone (Professionals, Freelancers, Students etc.).
2. The submitted images must have been done primarily (at least 90%) by the person submitting the image. You can not submit someone else's work or an image that you only modeled.
3.
The number of competitors selected for the competition will be determined by the scores of the public qualification round vote.


SUBMISSIONS RULES

1.
You must submit only 2 (two) portfolio images and 1 (one) qualification challenge image using the online submission form.
2. The file size for each image is restricted to 300KB in JPG format. You may need to save your JPG with a compression setting of 8.
3. The longest side of your submissions must not exceed 1500 pixels.
4. By submitting an image you agree that you have obtained all of the necessary permissions from your client and/or employer to have this image displayed publicly and used for promotional purposes of CGarchitect.com and the competition.
5. To submit, simply follow the instructions outlined on the online submission form.

Note: Your two previously rendered portfolio images can be any past work that you have done professionally or personally.


STEP 3 - QUALIFICATION ROUND JUDGING (April 1 - April 6)
Description Once the call for entries deadline ends all of the submitted images will be posted for public vote. Based upon the criteria below, the public will score each of the 3 images on a scale of 1-10. Those selected for the competition will compete in the 2 competition challenges. You will receive an email from CGarchitect.com if you are selected and your work and profile will be posted on the competition site.

Guidelines
Judging will be based on view composition, modeling, lighting, texturing, creativity, originality, technical difficulty, overall impact.

Judging will be performed by a public vote.

STEP 4 - CHALLENGES BEGIN (April 7 - May 23)
Description If you are one of the select few chosen from the qualification round you will be eligible to compete in the 2 final challenges. Full details and rules for each of these challenges will be posted in the CHALLENGES section of the competition site.

Judging
Guidelines
Judging will be based on view composition, modeling, lighting, texturing, creativity, originality, technical difficulty, overall impact and ability to meet the concepts outlined in the brief.

Judging will be done by a panel of preselected industry experts and public votes.

RULES and TERMS/CONDITIONS
Rules 1. Employees employed full time by any of the the judges, any of the competition sponsors are not eligible to enter the competition.
2.
All entries must be received by the specified entry date. No late entries will be accepted.
3. You may use any software or techniques to create the imagery for the challenges.
4. Teams or collaborative groups may not work on the final image for the challenge.
5. The challenge is open to everyone including professionals in the industry, students, freelancers or enthusiasts. The only requirement is a passion for Architectural Visualization.
6. As this is an architectural illustration competition any images you create for the competition must be at least 60% computer generated rather than photographed or camera mapped.
7. You may not submit or use any past projects for the challenge submissions. All entries must be original and created for the competition. (Applies only to challenge contestants, not the two previous images in the qualification round).
8. All challenges start at 24:00 on the start date and end at 12:00 on the end date, unless otherwise indicated. The time that will be used is North American Mountain Standard time. Click here to view the current time.
9. All submissions must be computer generated imagery. 2D and 3D is accepted as long as it meets the challenge criteria and competition rules. Be aware there are animations challenges if you opt to do a 2D digital image.
Terms/Conditions 1. By entering the competition you agree to be interviewed for the site if asked, provide a breakdown of your images, and allow your images to be published in the interview.
2. If you are the competition winner you agree to present your competition work at the Mundos Digitales 2008 Conference in La Coruna, Spain (July 1 - 5, 2008). All Expenses will be paid for you to attend.
3. You agree to allow our sponsors and any partners or outside agencies and companies we deem appropriate, including but not limited to other online magazine, print publications, media outlets and press, to highlight and feature your work with applicable credits.
4. Competitors will be responsible to pay any duties and taxes imposed by their respective countries in order to take possession of any prizes they may win during the course of this competition.
5. CGarchitect.com and its sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes if required.
