Default RPC Libraries-Expensive ?

Is it just me or are the RPC Libraries rediculusly expensive to purchase.

The new seated people for example aer 399 dollars.
How in Gods name are we suposed to produce renders at a cost effective and competitive price if we have to spend above and beyond our budget to get basic libraries.

Am I alone in my thinking.....money is hard to come by these days.
Somebody put me straight or send me money.........
cause i think they are expensive.

They are expensive, no doubt, but like a lot of assets you can buy, how long would it take you to make something like that?

Go out and take photos of people sitting, then slowly cut them out in PS. It'd take hours, so at, say, $50 per hour, you get maybe a few for a few hundred bucks of time.
That's not to mention that that way you have to composite it after, can't use from different views, etc.

They might look a little better, if you take them specifically for the scene, but looking at it that way you can see that you just have to put it in perspective - is your time more valuable working or making them?

now that makes some sense,

i do the follow, since the RPC Plug in Comes with viz (meaning you don't have to buy it) i use the RPC creator, with my image cel library, so i have a lot of trees an peple ready to use at any time...

It will allways require spending some time to get what you want, there are some other 3d libraries of trees and people, but most of them are priced the same range, as for me, i only have 2d materials, trees, and people imagery, i use planes, and the rpc cars, wich is a really good investiment...

cheers!

It is expensive, and at times causes alot of problems. But if you think about it - how much would it cost to rent a blue screen room, camera, and just all that time to seperate the characters from the bg.

I don't like using rpc for images, but they work well with animation gives it a better sense of realism instead of planar cutouts that face the camera.

I agree with you...

i'm thinking in purschasing Axis 3d people, but all the libraries cost about 500 usd, with 60 3d models of human, like 8$ per model, so, it's pretty much the same as RPC... only that they respond better to GI, RPC requires some post work to fix them...

I just use 2d people and things for animations and perspectives that I create and find it looks fine most of time depending on angles etc.

Try www.doschdesign.com or www.universalimagery.com for libraries.
