I saw your mention of this in Strat's thread and was pretty confused, but now I see you are using Viz Render

I don't know it that well, but I've seen it broken and misused by enough people that I can give you some tips.
There are some pretty standard problems you've got here, that are compounded by the way ADT/Viz Render works and the way people tend to work with ADT/Viz Render. ADT is able to generate high-poly models without really thinkin about it, esp. if you start doing things like fitting out every office in the building with furniture from Design Center because it's easy. You need to keep the number of polygons in the scene relatively low, because Viz Render is not at all fast.
Also, sometimes if you are importing an Autocad file and it seems to crash, it's just taking a lot time to import - it can take hours and still end up with a usable model.
And, Customize menu -> Preferences -> Viewports tab, there is a Display Driver section, if it doesn't say OpenGL, change it to OpenGL. Software screen mode + complex model = slow computer.
