Okay, so the change to OpenGL doesn't affect your file - you can always restart Viz Render, switch back, restart Viz Render again and reload your file - if it crashes in both the OpenGL and non-OpenGL cases, the problem isn't OpenGL.

Also, I would recommend updating your video driver. Unfortunately if you got your Quadro card with your Dell it might only accept drivers downloaded from the Dell web site - but try nVidia.com's Quadro drivers first. Dell updates their versions very infrequently.

If you have a driver from, say, 2003, and Dell's web site can't get you a better one, and you can't use nVidia's, there are ways to get around this by modifying the file that describes which card corresponds to which driver. I had this problem with a Precision laptop, Dell's driver was about 20 versions old and full of problems, and I ended up with the newest one courtesy of some help from laptopvideo2go.com, but I don't know how to do this with desktops.
