Default Blowing up images --- HELP!

Hi everyone,

I have to repoduce a rendering for a billboard ad (about 96"x168" @ 50/75 dpi) and was wondering if anyone knew of any software that will allow me to blow-up a rendering/image without losing too much resolution.

I'm having problems rendering it so big in 3ds max, keep getting "out of memory" errors, so i've decided to render it at a lower res and see if i could blow it up without losing too much resoultion. I can swear that i read something about a software that does this very well on this site in the past.

If anyone has any knowledge of this, can u please post ASAP. Also, if anyone can tell me if 50 dpi is enough for this ad, that would be great as well.

Thanks

look for bigrender or bgrender on This Page

http://www.scriptspot.com/Main_Scrip...nder&Sort=Name

or direct i Think is

http://www.scriptspot.com/download.asp?ID=2062

**

maybe render the sections @ 100 dpi or 150

**

i just used this .ms about 3 weeks ago to render
a 36" x 24" plotfile @200 dpi i too was getting a "out of memory" error

This will create 2x2 or whatever you select sections but beware
There WILL BE A 1x PIXEL BLACK LINE ON THE LOWER AND RIGHT SIDE

of EACH of the sections, so remember to "eliminate"" THIS

otherwise TOTALLY COOL extremely helpful, bailed me out of a jamb

Here, check this out. Supposedly you can render small sizes & this will do a good job at super-sizing them. http://www.lizardtech.com/products/gf/

I've used it once in demo, but didn't really take the time to compare it to regular photoshop re-sizing.

maybe tweak shadow maps and such so less memory is used, ...or, have you tried cranking up the virtual memory, even though it will slow things down overall?

I think you should also try this app. Originally known as Shortcut S-Spline

my vote goes with s-spline
usedthis several times to go from 72 to 300 dpi in one hit
much better than the p-shop interpolations for resize imho
for me it's mainly clients wanting a image on a site signboard so for this type of work it's no hassle to take a a3 image 2480x1753 and blow it up to 3 x 2 metres

Use Genuine Fractals from Lizardtech http://www.lizardtech.com/products/gf/
It is a plugin for photoshop and will handle any image over 1000x500 pixels in size. We use it all the time and it works a treat.

I second that suggestion. I have S-Spline and use it on a regular basis. Very customizable (sharpening and antialiasing settings) and works as a plugin for Photoshop, if desired.

great....thanks for all the rapid responses! I think I'm going to give the s-spline a try. It sounds like something that could really help out for this and future projects.
