Bear in mind that there are tons of other hotels in LA. I never stay downtown, but that also means I have to rent a car. Personally though, I find driving in LA to be a lot easier than here in Calgary.

Yeah, driving is fine, it's parking that's a pain.

And I am 100% sure that I'll be there. I've been to all of the CGA parties but surprisingly have only seen a couple of the most active forum members there. I also look forward to meeting some of the people here... there. Maybe we should have nametags with our avatars so we can recognize each other .

You mean you don't think that $20/day for parking is reasonable.

Last year I didn't get a car I got cabs. My friends that I was staying with were not too far away so I thought it would be better than renting a car and having it sit in the garage all day only to us it to go back to their place. Then I called on one friend who lived on the beach she said to just get a cab and head on over. That cab ride was $60. Ultimatly it may have been a bit cheaper getting a car but cabs are awfully easy.

Glad to hear it! I think I have it bad and I'm only a 6 hour drive away. I'm flying anyways.

Is that supposed to be a lot?

If I drive into NYC for a meeting I pay at least $20 for an hour. I've paid $40 to park my car in midtown for only a few hours. Then you tip the jockey. Ah, NY. Skyscrapers, and everythang.

So I guess I'll rent a car for LA. Do I need a gun?

That's what I was going to ask but being a Brit I thought it might be construed as impolite.
