Anyhow here tried to reduce their noise din, while working? I notice quite a crop of 80mm 2500rpm and lower with voltage reduction cooling solutions becoming popular now. It makes sense, to control cpu fans, case fans, etc all from the one control knob on the front panel.

That is, to turn things down a tad when surfing and reading emails. But turning the cooling back up again for long rendering sessions, multitasking with compositing work etc, etc. I am really getting tired of my small 4800rpm and 6000rpm 60mm cpu fans these days. One of the first things I am going to buy this xmas is a 'Lo-noise' solution.

Does anyone have good web sites/reviews etc?

I am looking at Asaka and Coolermaster models mostlly now.

Although, I have seen an unusual one from a Swiss manufacturer, Artic cooling. It claims to cool the fastest AMD cpus, make 18db of noise and run a 2200rpm fan.

Another interesting development is ANtec 60mm replacement fans with thermistors to run the fan at slow speed when not in use very much. This would be nice for me as I have bought alot of Antec cpu coolers and could just replace a fan now, for a low-noise 'SMart' variety.

I'm a big fan of either....

1) Enermax Adjustable RPM fans...Just turn the dial to make louder/quieter. No mess!

2) Any fan + fan controller.

As long as you can control the rpm of the fans in the computer, you can control the noise level...as well as tweaking for sound levels. (Getting all the fan's to drone into the same hum....)

Two questions, I was looking at a €50.00 Cooler Master Musketter, for a five and a half inch bay yesterday. It show a nice dial, going from zero volts up to 12 volts. But the dial from zero to six volts is in the red. Why? Because they do not recommend running fans at that low a voltage due to damage.

Question two, I have a Zalma Fan Mate 1, and some wires to connect it to all my case fans. Is that okay, I do not need a separate Fan Mate for each fan do i? At €21.00 each!

The guys here who use the Musketeer control many fans with it, using extension wires, connected to the main PSU.

I guess they just carefully wrap things up with cable ties etc.
