Buying the XEON (how the hell can I make one) - you are suggesting the retail heatsink that comes with the chip? I was thinking more of a performance cooler (I have a Thermalright SLK800 on my athlon 1900 now - works great). Thanks Strat.

The Athlons were known to generate more heat and have a lousy retail HSF. That opened a lot of room for HSF manufactrer o fill the market with tons of socket A HSFs especially since AMDs were, and still, knwon to be great overclockers. Nowadys things changed a little. Athlons (XPs) generate less heat, and retail HSFs are much better, but people still remember the 'old' days and mostly get a power HSF with their new OEM athlon purchase.
Intel CPUs never got as much of a big HSF selection out in the DIY market. Here's why:

This is the only XEON cooler I could find. Looks like they're out of stock. I've never seen a XEON up close with the retail heatsink/fan...was wondering what size fan they use? Is it a 60mm "whiner"? I'd rather use some 80's for lower noise.
