First one is realy interesting, but I am affraid you would loose some points on the brief, second is great... hard to tell... Perhaps it is better to go with second and just add more light coming from the left! I think the transition from light to dark which goes from left to right is to much in favour of dark side, add more light to get the balance... Other elements are great as they are... Good luck!
