Default AMD problem

My company just purchased 7 new AMD Athlon Dual Core 64 bit 4400+ machines and I've been doing some comparison tests against an Intel 3.6 GHz Pentium. So far the AMD is 37% slower than the Intel, but I'm not sure if everything is working right. I have a dual processor dual core AMD Opteron system and the task manager shows 4 processors, these Athlon systems only show one processor in the task manager, but I think they should be showing two. Can anyone help me here, I don't know if these processors are functioning correctly.

It should show two processors. Sounds like your vendor screwed up - this should work without modifications, but did you check the bios and check with your vendor and MB manufacturer to see if there are any bios upgrades you need for the dual?

what motherboard, did you get, the last system I installed, I had to update the bios and now it shows 2 cpu's. some of the motherboard manufacturers, now are able to let you update the bios thru windows now which is really nice, then all you do is reboot and your good to go.

It turns out it was a BIOS problem, the boards shipped with a 2.xx version and when we updated they were at 19.xx, so I guess they've been sitting in a warehouse for quite some time.

Cool. Now can you show us some examples of what you can do with 7 dualcores?

Now what kind of performance are you getting relative to Intel?

The AMD system is a little more than 40% faster than the Intel 3.6 GHz 64 bit system. The AMD system is also $300 less than the Intel system, so as of right now unless Intel changes something either in their pricing or speed of their chips we will be buying all AMD systems.
