If you are using VRay, you can turn off reflections in the Global Switches Tab. If you are using Scanline, I dont know if there is a way.

A wise use of User Interpolation can decreate your render times A LOT without a major visual impact. Play a bit with the values...

reflections are usually a breeze for vray...except for blurry refs...check your glossines value....1 is no blur....ans the less you go is more blury...if thats the case, try reducing the subdivs in your material

Eduardo is on the money with blurry ref's ..
Take the sub divs right down to about 5, think the default is 50. Then work upwards from there.. Andy

i reduced everything to minimum, subdivision to 1, max rate to 0,
it is still same thing, I want to create a flyby animation of the building and I have a rendering farm at work but still 1 frame takes too long with all this reflection. I did it with Mental Ray and it was quick. Now I do same thing with Vray and it is taking forever, I can't imagine how long it would take with only one processor computer. I think interpolation would be the only solution MandelbrotJr, Can you tell me what setting you would have ? thanks guys. |

You may need to post a more detailed example like scene settings, material settings. Keeping the material subs at 8 and refl glossiness at 1 should be pretty quick. What are the render times that you have now?

I agree with Sawyer, if you are using refl glossiness at 1 VRay should render the frame really really fast as it just raytracing.
What are this relective surfaces actually reflecting ? |
