Default Imagina feed back

Hi everybody,
It seems you guys had quite a good time at Imagina...
Thank you very much to all of you for coming !
I had the chance to chat a bit with Jeff but was too busy to get all your impressions (positive I hope...).
Here seems a good place to get some feed back, it will help us for next year.
For sure in 2007 we will try to put a pizza truck outside, couldn't find a proper snack miles around
Stay in touch.

Hi Benoit,

Congrats to you and the other organisers for an enjoyable, informative few days.

It was especiialy good as a venue to meet other people in our field (alot of them on this board) and other industries.

Here are a few things which may be worth considering for next year: -

More discussion panels
It would have been good to hear a few more discussions amongst the professionals as well as their individual presentations

Interdisciplinary sessions
It would be great to hear from professionals in the other CG industries - film, games industry etc.. in relation to arch vis. (a certain Christopher Nichols comes to mind!)

Longer PIM sessions
It was definitely interesting to speak direct to manufacturers and suppliers but the sessions weren't quite long enough to have a proper discussion.

Better signage!
it wasn't clear at first where conferences were in relation to the exhib hall and those escalators which missed out an entire floor - a tad disorientating!

Aforementioned snackbar
Actually this should probably be at the top of the list...!

Regards,

Dan

Thank you Dan.

We had an Imagina debriefing today and your suggestions where on the list, the snackbar issue included...
We are already working on next year edition organisation and all the things you have mentioned should improve a lot.

Thanks again for your help.

All the best.

Hey Benoit,

Was nice to speak to you at the show. Here are my suggestions to make the show even better next year:

1. Better website. The caliber of the event, the speakers and the location is really not properly portrayed by look and organization of the website. The English on the site should also be checked over as there were many grammatical errors

2. Better communication with the speakers and moderators about what to expect, where they need to be and when. Although I've done many conferences they all change from year to year. I would have liked to know a very detailed outline of deadlines for all of the various tasks and information that I can pass along to my speakers about the set up of the room, the format, when they needed to have their topics submitted etc.

3. As was mentioned above signage for the event. This was a problem last year too. There should be signs throughout the conference center clearly indicating where rooms and sessions are and the rooms themselves should have a schedule for the week of what sessions will be in that room and when. Also a map in the program schedule. The guys at SIGGRAPH are very good at this, so if you have a chance to attend in Boston, I think it would be great.

4. Better internet connectivity. There were many problems trying to get connected, find out who to talk to and stay connected from day to day in the booths.

5. Clearer instructions about getting picked up at the airport. The email said there was an imagina booth, but we could not find it anywhere and we had to take a taxi to the hotel.

6. Food as was mentioned above. There should be food and drink available at all times during the conference.

7. An info pack should be waiting at speaker's hotels with all of their information and registration badges to speed up the process and ensure their stay is easy.

8. Directions to get to the convention center. I knew where it was from the year before, but I don't recall seeing anything with directions and did have trouble getting there at first last year.

9. The event should plan a night and time at a restaurant for each session so the moderators can meet their speakers. This was done last year and it was really nice. I organized this myself this year. Not a big deal, but would have been nice to have this scheduled for us.

10. The PIMS seemed to have been really well explained to the "Buyers" but very little information was given to the vendors from the show floor. We had planned a lot for the PIMS but did not realize that they were 30 min with everyone at once, so we had to come up with a presentation last minute. The PIMS would be better scheduled at the end or the beginning of the conference so it does not conflict with the sessions.

11. I think the guide should indicate which sessions and speakers will be presenting in French and English. There should also be a lot more translators as they were short by a lot this year.

Overall it was a great event and I'm very happy that the arch viz industry is finally receiving the attention is deserves. Well done! It's really just the small details that need to be addressed that will really make the show a great success. I look forward to next year!

Hi Benoit,

I have emailed my suggestions to Jocelyne directly, so I think you already heard these too.

Basicly, i liked Imagina a lot, and apart from what I've heard from other people, had no problem at all with briefings etc. Everything was very detailed planned (except for the signals in the Grimaldi Forum) ,-)

My largest request (I do not want to repeat previous notes by collegue-CGArchitects) is to spread the PIMs better from the sessions. I.e. The archviz sessions took two days, but i could not see al of them, because I had to go to the PIMs. Would have been great if these were on another day so there is no overlap ,-)

Hey Nisus,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions !
The signs in the Grimaldi Forum were a big problem, it will be one of our priority next year.
Regarding the overlaping of PIMs and Conferences, next year we are going to organise the PIMs in the morning and conferences in the afternoon.
The only thing that worries me a bit is are you guys ready to manage late night parties and early business.... should be alright
let's keep in touch
regards
ben
