Modeling/Texturing: It seems like the artist took their time with this image. There is great detail and fabulous modeling touches. A few areas are a bit blurry.
Lighting: Very nice, realistic, looks like true sunshine. Composition: The composition works, the space is balanced and has a good aspect ratio. The dome doesn’t feel overly large but there is a clear foreground, middle ground, and background. C/O/D: We see creativity in the architecture. The colors are thoughtful and the scale is very well planned out. Unity: Well done. Brief: Great, looks like real space-the only thing is that the birds and butterflies seem to be large. |

One of the best. Lots of well thought out detail, well crafted modeling (of a well designed but still buildable space). Nice texture work. The rendering has a nice softness theat works to help convey the warmth and brightness of such a space. We also like the detail of the people at the very top of the dome.
A very well thought out design, with excellent composition. The space feels grand but not overwhelming. Makes us want to go visit. |

Modeling/Texturing: Excellent, lots of attention has been paid throughout the image on both the foreground and the background elements. The texturing is particularly good on the metal surfaces at the top of the dome and on the smaller dome at the bottom of the image. Nice contrast between man-made vs. natural and rough vs. smooth textures.
Lighting: Perhaps a bit too soft, but overall very convincing. Not as much drama as some of the other entries, but compelling nonetheless. Composition: Again, excellent. The image is very rewarding in that there are lots of places for the eye to wander, yet never wants to leave the space. The depth of field is a nice touch in the foreground, and I especially like the small metal dome at the lower center of the image as a device to contain the verticality of the image. The butterfiles are another excellent compositional device to redirect attention back to the center of the space. A couple small complaints would be that the middle ground is a bit flat, but maybe this is intentional. I'm intrigued by the pavilion at the right center, but I can't really tell what it is. And the top of the dome seems somewhat constrained with the crop of the image. Small points though in an exceptionally well-composed image. C/O/D: Probably the best of the group - the attention to detail really sets this one apart. Unity: Very good, with the slight exception of the middle ground. Brief: This is it - the scale of the dome is well represented, yet the space feels populated and inviting at the same time. Last edited by Scott Baumberger; April 15th, 2006 at 04:23 PM. |

Excellent detail, and a very nice composition. The play on depth and levels is very effective. My only criticism would be the blurred depth of field on the rear of the image. It works well in the foreground giving a sense of involvement with the image, but in the background it gets a little wooly.
A very good image despite this.
