To attach an image simply click the "manage attachments" button that is in the additional options window when you reply to a post (see attached).

As far as I know, there is no way to achieve what you are trying to do in Sketch Up. However, I am sure that you would have a lot of fun with Modo modeling something like that.

I am looking forward to see your images.
