Default Christophe Landrain - WIP

Hi everyone,

after getting my interior doomed and finished last way way behind, I hesitated to continue the contest, but he, guess I won't stop here, I had a different approach and I finally decided to continue with it, remain coherent with my first image. I missed a central focus, a strong architectural point... but that was because my center core, well wasn't in the center . I imagined the dome not being an hemisphere, but being shaped like a big leaf (not evident right now but textures are being cooked), symbolising nature, pointing towards future...

Hope you'll like. Hope I'll find time to finish it in time, with post production this time A lot of work yet to do, but I wanted to show my concept, which explains my interior maybe a little better.

Well, you were not way, way behind
I think the judges treated your image as unfinished... Do not take it so hard, it is not easy to pass the massage every time, I know cause I missed it too... Also had bad critiques and treated as unfinished... I hope you will finish and achieve what you are imagined. Your concept is interesting and original.
I suggest that you move camera more back and show more of the object in context.
I can say one thing - for one I am happy to be in this competition and to me it is already success, but on the other hand I feel like I missed the big oportunity to do something speciall, and I know I could do so much better, both in producing better image and taking better rank. Perhaps you feel similar. Anyway, theme of this competition is not in favour to all contestants... Not all are specialized for natural enviroment and have lot of entourage resources...

Hi Branko, well it's not I took it bad, cause the critics were mostly very constructive, I kind of hesitated to continue with my idea, my conception of the dome but decided to continue with that big leaf shaped dome. I'm feeling the same way as you describe you are and working with natural environement is more than a challenge for me. Definately this contest is something great, well I just hoped I could do something more finished. But there's is the exterior for that, need time Good luck for the next deadline and thank you for your comments.

Merci pour ton comment

Little update, still hesitating about the ambiance, sunset, bright sun... still don't know...Finally tomorrow I can start working fulltime on it for 2 days. It's more than time...

ps: those cables at the front of the dome already belong to past

Hey, this update looks very promissing... Water especially...
Frosted glass is interesting - I hope it will not give you hard time for final render... Keep up!

little update, only half shaded view, I'm missing time, plus the huge rendering, don't think I'll be able to push texture work... I need a day off to work on that...
I changed the structure a little bit, worked the foreground and modeled that naughty bridge, plus worked on the mountain a little bit.... Hope u like, sorry but no time to render with some of the textures already placed and shaders...

Now, this composition is great! You got nice foreground, bridge looks great, caves in the mountain very interesting... Do not give up on the textures, You need them on the mountain and water, other things can be metalic or white, but rocks and water need texaturework! And watch out on your frosted glass! It can take you great amount of time to render! If you got problems with rendertimes, try to render some parts separately or (I had to do this for interior) render picture from parts and assemble it in postwork...

damn I just came back to render station , and poum my render.. pc was at desktop, max down, no error message... what the... now if that doesn't smell bad... damned...
thanks for your comments branko, yeah frosted glass is gonna be a pain, but i need it, it's part of my idea since some stuff is yet to come on that big "leaf" :-)

Frosted glass is a pain, but vegetation will be much worse, it dramatically increased my interior rendertime, not allowing me to put characters, postprod etc...

nb: i took a day off busy tomorrow morning with some paper stuff, but afternoon I hope I can finish and launch render... which eventually isn't gonna put me back to desktop without warnings...
