I've been considering switching from Archicad>FormZ to Archicad>C4D. As a side note, I've heard that large polygon counts in 3DS Max is not an issue, and wonder if that becomes an issue w/C4D. I've read a number of times on the FormZ forum that if the polygon count gets very large, that it will bring FZ to "its knees". That worries me, hence my concern if I'm going to replace FZ with C4D.

Polygon count can be an issue with any 3D program, but there are ways to deal with it - standins, hiding and using display as box all have their advantages. The better your computer, the more it can deal with. In my experience, Max and C4D are about equal in this, but I have a preference for C4D's hide objects feature - objects are arranged in a heirarchy and they have buttons you can get to very quickly for visible in editor and visible in renderer, so for example if you have some cars and trees and surrounding buildings, you can hide them in editor to make it fast but they still render, or objects not visible in the view you're looking at can be turned off in both to get an advantage - Max does this too, but the interface isn't as quick.
