Hi guys. I have a problem with irradience map in vray. Here is problem:
Scene: 1. I have a ship leaving port. I have camera. Ship is linked with dummy so the dummy is animated and ship follows. 2. The camera is focusing on the Front part of the dark at frame 0 and focusing the front area of star board at frame 100. 3. there is 1 vray light in the scene with nodecay and multiplier is 2. everything is just fine. I saved the IRmap with multiframe incremental for every 10th frame. 4. when i reload the IRmap, and render, it gives me bad artifects. I have followed the Christropher Nicholas DVDs. They are very helpful for me for vray. I followed same procedures he described in detail. The IRMap settings are high with multipass settings. 5. When i render, i get artifacts with animation. So, both ship and camera are being animated. 6. But when i make the ship still and animate my camera, then again save the IRmap, it works fine and gives me best results but when i render it for object animations, it gives me artifacts. I dont know what to do. 7. Sec bounce is QMC. So problem is, scene with animated camera & still objects works fine. Scene with aniamted camera and animated objects works bad. What do i do guys. Please! tell me. Thanks for your replies. |

You cannot used saved IR maps with moving objects or lights in your scene. It only works in scenes where the camera is the only thing moving. You may need to follow this tutorial for moving objects:

thanks great Christropher for your reply.
I have gone through this very lengthy tutorial. this is really really really lengthy process. Although I am a good compositor and use after effects but, this is really lengthy process. Can you refer any easy way to do this? this is becuase it is really bad for me when i am close to my deadlines. I hope that there will be any other fast processing method for this like, lightcache or IRMap etc etc. thanks for your reply again. |

well thanks for telling me the alternate method. I have attached my ship pictures and rendered images. The light cache as sec bounce i have:
Subdivs: 1000 , Sample size:0.02, Scale: World (as you said, good for animation), store direct light: on ,# of passes: 2 (HT single processor), filter: Nearest, Interp samples: 10 can you tell me more good settings? i am getting the result as you can see in my attachments. You can also judge the my model in the scene. It is an exerior scene. I have increased sub-divs, but it is not even working for me. Settings have been attached, plz tell me other good settings. Thank you for replies.. |

when I said QMC I mean for the GI method, not the AA method. Howver, having QMC for the AA method is fine too. You can probably leave the LC as it is, around 500 or so subdiv. But you will need to bump up the QMC for the GI from 8 to around 16 or more... maybe higher.

Oh Oh. sorry i didnt mention the primary engine. They are QMC and sorry i didnt mention that. I just tried to give you the AA settings too and thought you would understand that i have followed you for primary GI. Well, i have test rendered with primary GI with 30 sub-div but i am still getting the same problem. even with IR for primary and LC for sec, i have got big splotches, i m wandering what should i do. i am here asking you questions bcoz you are my teacher as well. attachment pics are for you to understand that this is completely outdoor scene with big ship to be animated, so i dont have small objects to deal with. Thats the problem and i hope this is really pleasure for me to post this question because i have gone through the entire posts and couldnt find any question like mine.
Thanks for helping me and hoping to get right and easy answer for you. |

Oh,bundle of thanks for quick reply. I am using 1.47 version. Well i am also getting 1 warning from vray during render. its saying "invalid lightmap samples". but result got much better than before. Noise is getting out but the error is there. Also render time is reaaaaly big. QMC subdiv are 30 right now. but i am sorry you told in your dvd not to use too high value for this. I just tried it but its giving me better result and also with much much big render time. LC calculation isnt taking much time but QMC and final image is taking much much. Please! i think i am getting closer and will meet the result with good render time with your help. What should i tweek now? any idea.
thanks again for guiding in right direction |
