Hi James,

I think marksee's suggestion will work, if indeed your target is to align object 1 to object 2. You just need to combine the "align position" and "align orientation" axes (see attached gif).

You seem to want just a particular section of object1 to align with object 2. In this case, the best thing I could think of is moving vertices. Or maybe try normal align (havent tried it though).
