Default biginning stuff..help

ok i will start learning autocad in next month and my first Q is
1.3ds max or autocad whos better?(for making better graphic ..)
2.i have radeon 9800 xt its weeks i wanna buy new card is X1900 Xtx good for that? or X1800 ?
3.did i need more then 2 gb or Ram ?

1- Apples vs oranges here... AutoCAD is for drafting, 3ds is for 3D (archvis, movies, TV, whatever). Can't compare them (even if you meant ACAD 2007)
2- If you're talking about performance with 3ds max, don't really see why buy a new one. Of course, I'm not the most qualified person in this forum to talk about hardware, but...
3- Not really. Specially in the beginning.

why did the FX-Quadro- is more expnsive then the X1900 xtx if the x1900 is faster ?

in my country X1900 xtx is like 600$ and the quadro fx is like 1500 2000$..
someone can explain lol :P

The quadro's are certifed to work with your 3d app, that's why they're more expensive...

I'm a beginner also at 3d work, started a year ago, but from what i gather rendering is all CPU dependant, the video card is only used for animation playback and viewport generation, it shouldn't speed up render times. Autocad really isn't a strain on video cards i run autocad 2002 on a 1998 Voodoo 3000 card with 16 Mb RAM !

2GB RAM is enough for decent render performance.
