Wow, a house

>>The first sketch is just a colour study, ignore the composition, bad perspective, wrong shaped shadow..

So what should we critizise if you do it all yourself ????? Well the picture looks like you dont know what you want to show us, is your goal to show us a house or a landscape. You should imho give at least one of them more room so one can see if its a house with a nice landscape or a landscape with a house somewhere in it.

Oh yes, color (colour) ! I think you can make a smoother transition of the green field to the horizon, it seems there is a seam at the end of the house. Otherwise nice atmosphere, despite the shadows.....

Hi Kid,

I like the yellow sunlight / blue shadow play. The roof is okay too. Green and blue (sky and grass) look a bit unreal to me...

Hi Kid...

>>> I posted this in another forum for some feedback but I guess with no Orcs, Dragons, or >>> anatomically impossible manga chicks in it no-one was interested.

Man I just can't stop laughing... I say that all the time.. these guys all revolve around one another... it's so hilarious.. I wouldn't bother expecting them to be a little creative
I would rather waste my time beleiving in Santa Clause!

btw: you forgot one.. spaceships! LOL! and I also know who that "other" forum is!

Hey... Is that like a real painting... or CG? If it's a painting, cool, I like it.. nice use of color.
regardless of the comp. Keep at it.

Done photoshop 7...so that must mean you don't like it then

I actually find it harder working with colour in photoshop because you can't just mix the various colours to get the shade you need, like for the tonal colour of an object for example, you have to do the mixing in your head then pick what you think the answer is from the palette, if you know what I mean...

If the final photoshop painting turns out alright I'll probably develop the idea a bit more and do it with oil.

why not work in Painter instead of Photoshop? the tools in Painter are geared towards.... painting. not sure if they have a demo version or not. they are bought and sold so much i am not even sure who owns them anymore, i think it might be Corel.

I have Painter Classic and it's the same deal, just with a crappy interface.

Although Painter 8 now has a proper colour mixing palette, and I'm playing with the demo at the moment, I doubt I'll buy it because photoshop does adequately for 90% of what I do, and money is not an abundant commodity for me while I'm studying.

I'd rather spend my money on oils, canvas and beer

I felt there is something missing in the painting.. colour wise. perhaps it's lacking in some tertiary colours to spice up the painting perhaps? right now it still feel kinda rudimentary in term of colour play.

Huh... you know I just don't get it how people can paint in photoshop... I just don't understand it. Sure you got wacom and all but I can't wrap my head around it.. some pics look so much like a digital copy of a painting. its weird.

As for likeing it or not.. well I like what I see, It's just rare to see an actual painted painting in a CG forum...

Maybe bring in a tree or two with shadows, animals maybe, some rocks and stuff like that.. A fence, i dunno.. Or for the fun of it.. maybe a butt naked chick.. might work!

But seriously.. what I get from this painting.. (if I may) is a childs faible .. like hansel & grettle
maybe you should aim for that kind of image... ad two kids running after a dog.. with a women
hanging the close out to dry.. .. gotta go.. phone!
