Marquee Isolation Tool
----------------------------------------------------------------
SHORT TITLE FOR SUGGESTION/BUG/ENHANCEMENT REQUEST
----------------------------------------------------------------
Zone Isolation Tool
---------------------------------------------------------------
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF YOUR REQUEST
---------------------------------------------------------------
In Archicad I can use the marquee tool to quickly isolate an area
in the 2d window and jump to that zone in 3d. I don't have to select
objects then isolate them. I'd like to do this in max.
What about drawing a zone with a 'marquee' line (dotted?)
then viewing that quickly in camera or perspective mode?
Of course I'd want to render my view out.
Also, I would want to be able to highlight the cut line through
materials with another colour or thicker line.
---------------------------------------------------------------
WHY THIS REQUEST IS IMPORTANT TO YOU
---------------------------------------------------------------
If I had this 'zone isolation' tool I could quickly select areas that
I'm working on and focus on them, while ignoring irrelevant detail.
Also, I could create sections through buildings which is extremely
useful to do in architectural work.
I realise that some of this can be done via camera clipping but the implementation is a little clumsy (slow?) for me and I never use it.
