Default How do I load models done in VRAY into MENTAL RAY without getting warning errors?

3DS Max 9

How do I load models done in VRAY into MENTAL RAY without getting those warning errors?

I made some doo-dads a few months ago and I textured them with vray.

I'm wanting to use Mental Ray and when I load them, I have to get rid of the vray material.

I switch render engines to Mental Ray and then I select a material (say, one of the new A&D materials) then apply it, I can see it and it renders.

However, I see get the warnings about this and that vray material is missing.

I've switched to the basic scanline render engine, and reset all the materials in the material slots to the generic gray. I render in scanline and it's fine.

But when I switch to mental ray, it complains about a vray material not being supported.

SIGH.

I've merged the object into an empty scene and it still happens.

I've exported the object and then imported it, and it now renders without any vray material warnings, however there are serious geometry errors from exported it as an OBJ.

Any ideas? I'd hate to lose some of the models that I've invested time in modeling.

Thanks everyone.
