Default My Boxx Tech Experiance

Last week I had a hard drive fail. I talked with Boxx about it I was overnighted a new drive and it came the next day. I was given assistance with the installation and I was able to ask questions and the tech support guy (James) was able to trouble shoot some performance issues I was having. Not only did he know computers he knew 3dsmax.

I am sure there are cheaper computers but I believe all companies should be run like this when customer support is an issue.

I also learned Boxx only has about 35 employees. Really amazing considering their profile.

Having just purchased a very expensive system from them, I can also attest to their very fine customer service.

It proves what a business course once stressed: that many people are willing to pay more for a product with great customer service, than simply going with the low bidder with horrible service.

I order parts from Newegg all the time, and you can definitely find these parts cheaper on the net, but nowhere near as professionally sold, billed and shipped as newegg does.

My experiences with Boxx have been like that. I think its just how they do things. I like that.

I also bought a Boxx workstation and a render node. The service is just the best out there and on top of that you get a free t-shirt!!!

Absolutely no complaints

drop to the ground and raise your hands to the sky and pray to whatever higher power you follow, cause from our experiences, I wish I would have listened to the "you gotta get a dell" guy!

end of this thread tells the whole story
http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/13310-...highlight=boxx
(I work with crazy homeless guy, he was talking about my Boxx) we ordered three, two worked off the shelf, it took them almost two weeks to fix mine. They tried phone support, shipping parts, we sent it to them, they sent it back still crashing, finally they built a new one from scratch and shipped it out.... and of course they don't cross ship. Needless to say, I'm a fan of the system, it's hardcore power.... but for customer service they ain't getting any cookies from grandma.

I'm waiting for a new render node to be shipped from Boxx right now... I'm anxious to experience thier famous support first hand.

Now I know I could call Boxx, but perhaps someone could give me a quick answer. I'm looking into a workstation or rendernode. I already have a precision 670 that I can boost up with xp 64 and 4 g ram. I want to add to that. My question, is it less expensive to buy a rendernode with the same specs as a workstation? Just looking for a quick yes or no answer, thanks.

btw, I priced out a boxx 8300 series and a dell precision 690 with the exact build. The dell was only $261 less. Woo hoo, I don't have to buy another dell!

Yes, because a rendernode can be a workstation without the high end 3D card.

put it this way, when my p4 died, I looked up dell and boxx, and both were just beginning to offer the new woodcrest chips. so i wrote down both sales numbers and called them on my long drive to work, so i could get advice from the agents on release delays, build time estimates, etc. i called dell first, since it is such a large scale operation, they can offer the systems for slightly less.
the agent had no idea which chips i was speaking about, or the new configuration. he couldnt recommend 64 vs reg xp, or anything technical. and im inquiring about their highest end workstation!

so then i call Boxx, have the entirely opposite experience, and all for ~same price.

this all being said, I still order dells for our standard cad workstations, since you can't beat ~$1200 for a very fast & basic cad station.

I imagine the qualifications for a salesperson at Dell are about the same for one at BestBuy. Just an assumption.
