Re: Post Your Suggestions for DMVC 2008 Session Topics
Sounds like a pretty good plan, Jeff. I've been to one Siggraph and honestly didn't find it beneficial enough to attend again. The DMVC is another story... ;-)
I think I may have made this comment already on one of the post-conference surveys, but I think Ernest Burden's talk at the first conference in Boston was the most insightful from a visualizer's standpoint. His dissection of architectural rendering's comparisons to traditional portraiture was brilliant, and even as someone who attended an art college it was a great refresher to hear him discuss elements of composition, color, line, etc. in renderings. His hour-long lecture was over far too quickly.
Also I really enjoyed the panel in San Diego with Jorge Tiscareno, Kevin Smith, and Scott Baumberger -- but the emphasis was too much on the business of archviz. What about putting together a similar session but focus more intently on production methods, workflows, and success stories? Panel members could each present a project and overview its production process before opening up to questions and discussion.
