Default tilt wheel mouse issues

I just got the Logitech Cordless DesktopS 510 keyboard + mouse package and am somewhat satisfied with everything exept the way the mouse wheel (with the shite "tilt wheel" feature) can't be used like a traditional "dumb" mouse wheel to pan and zoom extents in acad or max.

I've tried messing with the software to change the settings of the mouse wheel but nothing gives me the old-fashined pan function when clicking the wheel and dragging. Is there a software out there that will correct this issue?

thanks

note: mbuttonpan = 0/1 ... doesn't change anything

I recommend fixing this in hardware.

But, Logitech doesn't give you a utility that can assign a Windows function to that? For me the assignment is "universal scrolling" (that's in Razer's utility).

there is a utility provided by Logitech but the "universal" scrolling function still fails to make the "wheel click and pan" work. when I scroll with the wheel it zooms in and out ~ that's ok... but when I click the wheel, it always initiates the horizontal scroll... annoying.

I'll just use my good old mx310 until I can dig up a fix.

thanks

p.s. how do you like that Razor? ... looks nice and light : )

The Razer is great. I have it cranked up to 1000MHz and 1600DPI and compensate by turning down Windows acceleration, which makes for very accurate and non-jumpy mousing. I also got a Razer Control mouse pad. (Sorry, now they're called "Precision Mousing Surface".) It's enormous, which I like.

BTW, cranked up the CPU a bit more 2960MHz, Cinebench 918 rendering, 5254 OpenGL. 47C loaded.

your mouse sounds like a Ferrari : )

I have an Xtrac Zoom pad and it's alright unless your hand makes a little moisture on the pad then it's like you're dragging the thing across flypaper ~ not an ideal situ for a mousepad.

that's great with your E6400 Conroe... the more I think of it, the more I'm tempted so just keep on posting those wicked benchie #'s and I'll cave and buy a setup soon enough

hell, I'm actually thinking of selling my dual optie workstation and 4 oc'd xeon nodes (mobo's ram cpu's hsf's and extra cpu's) in order to get 2 6300/6400 conroe rendering rigs in addition to a new 6600/6700 workstation... that's an awful lot of parts swapping but may be well worth it

I wouldn't even recommend bothering with the 6700 - I can't see it being worth the extra money considering how fast you can get a 6400 or 6600 to go. I can see a 6600 being worth it for the extra cache. Get some 975 MB and 400MHz RAM that specs above 2V, I've seen people with slower RAM have issues when going into the high 300 range.

I keep wanting to take the clock on this higher, but there's got to be a limit and I must be pressing my luck, though it shows no signs of trouble.

BTW, render time on that scanline teapot scene is 4:39 at 2960MHz, but I don't know how useful it is a benchmark, since it spends so much time calculating raytrace maps which doesn't use the full multi-CPUness. Also, I'm staying in 32-bit Windows because I'm not happy with the software support in 64-bit yet, but when it gets a bit better I'll upgrade.

3120MHz seems to be the max stable clock. 969 rendering, 5432 OpenGL. But it's getting a bit weird on me and the CPU temp gets to 50C so I'm backing off.

very true about the E6700 and its cost, dunno yet... I'd like to think such a chip would guarantee a little more of an OC but it is an awful lot of money from the 6600 which, like you said, has the cache and is the sweet spot in the lineup.

yeah, if that scene is non-smp favored it's kinda rubbish to use it as a benchie... a simple scene with a couple million faces and full GI would do the trick to get those buckets turning over.

what exactly are you having trouble with x64? I've almost bought in several times but haven't for this exact reason?? Mabe Vista will provide some 64bit relief.

those are wicked scores for a proc... I still can't beleive that these Core2's are doing ~

what HSF/case cooling are you using? If you could stand more fan noise, you may be able to go a bit higher, but nobody wants to sit next to a computer that sounds like a hairdryer

Some glitchy drivers, the utils I wanted to use for monitoring the OC didn't function, my Norton stuff didn't work... actually, not very good reasons, but with the OC'ed MB I wanted the environment and utils I was most familiar with. I'll have another go if I start getting into files that suffer from lack of 64-bitness, but considering I've now got a higher Cinebench OpenGL score than I've ever seen before I don't know what it would take to do that.
