Lightscape was not continued after v3.2, but was incorporated into 3DSMax. I'm not sure if you can buy the standalone 3.2 anymore..

Lightscape was NOT incorporated into Max, Viz or anything else. It's gone.

You may be able to find a copy from an old dealer with leftover stock, but its not very likely at this point.

Why do you need Lightscape? Why wouldn't anything else do?

Even if you could find a dealer with a copy holding up a shelf or something, it could never be registered or authorized so you wouldn't be able to do much with it.

I thought the Lightscape technology was carried over into VIZ around version 3 or 4 with added features and some old features removed.... or so I was led to believe.

not that it matters anymore

I was also under the impression that Viz and Max had at least some incarnation of the lightscape radiosity engine in them.

You could try ebay! Viz/Max is NOT Lightscape and probably never will be. Your best bet if you have no luck with ebay is Light Studio from www.lichtplaner.com

You can also try to find out from the old users of LVS (albeit version 3.11) which have upgraded their LVS to include a dongle. I have done this myself to avoid the crazy 'authorization' every time I change something on my system. For me there isnt much difference between 3.1.1 and 3.2 aside from new file import import capbilities and minor fixes.

And yes LVS was never incorporated inot Max/Viz although the people from Lightscape were involved in the radiosity/global illum like Rod Recker/Filippo Tampieri and others in the Max/Viz radiosity/global illum engine. A simple test would reveal that the LVS and Max/Viz engine works very differently with the obvious being in the way they 'look'.
