I agree that DMVC is an excellent event for learning new skills that will help us to be better artists. But, what's the point of being a great artist if you can't find work or don't know how to manage a client or can't collect outstanding invoices? There are many other "real" issues that we need to face up and deal with on a daily basis. If we all were to just stick our heads in the sand and ignore everything else that's happening and evolving in our new industry, I guarantee you that one day we will wake up and realize that things are not the way we want them to be.
Also, it's not very often that we all get together. We all have different needs and interests, but we share a common goal. Career success. So let's all open our eyes and minds and help to make DMVC 2008 an awesome career enhancing experience.
