Default Marina

Here are a few images...built in MicroStation and rendered in in Vue 5 Infinite. I only had 12 hours total to work on it so I'm happy with it all things considered. CC requested and welcome.

The peoples textures are not for the scene, where the light is coming from the right. you should edit the people in photoshop with a gradient color or something, so it looks like light is hitting them as well. Otherwise, the scene is nice but the people sort of give it away.

I agree. Normally, I like to flip them in the right direction but I was absolutely out of time. This is just th 1st run though...apparently, they are using this for design/build purposes and I'll have an update by them soon.

Anyone else? Seeing as how this isn't my actual final I could use a bit more input.

i would dirty it up a bit, you'd never have a metal breakwall that stays that clean beneath the waters surface. you could throw some dock fenders in there, maybe some boatlines for tying off could like nice..... And for the aerial how come the larger yachts have no docks?

Not all boaters back in, most don't cause unless your well seasoned its a pain in the backside... ha get it? um.... and maybe you could gradiate the water as it goes out to away from the land, you wouldn't have all one color like you have it in reality.

looks like a fun project though.... good luck to ya.

Have you considered a different angle for the eye-level view? I would view it to show the other side of the Marina as well. Other than what was already stated from above, that's all i have. I like the Palm trees. Where did you get them, cause I need them for a rendering that i'm working on.

Thanks for the responses so far...

As for the yachts having no docks, they weren't given to me on the plan view by the client. I think they're waiting for final design but not quite sure. I'll learn more later this week but will definitely ask this question.

I'll work on the water color change. I think I'd need to add the ground beneath the water and a slope so that it gets deeper the further away you are. However, this is extreeemely time consuming in Vue 5 Infinite. I'll have to see if I have the time to.

Also, I thought all large boats DID back in. Maybe I'm wrong. I'll have to ask the client on that one.

The palms are straight out of Vue so you wont get the variety I have because it randomizes it. I exported 2 for you and zipped it up. NO idea if it imports correctly into another program...but they're both in 3ds format. Hopefully it works...but I'm too swamped to really try much right now. There are 2 3ds files, one texture map, one bump, one alpha. Enjoy.

actually as silly as it sounds most of the larger boats in our marina park bow towards the sunrise that way you don't get the harsh morning sun, and then you enjoy the view of the sunset from the back deck. although the more I think about it does it really matter that much??? I guess I should have just said maybe you could flip a couple to add more randomness to the scene.

I didn't work right, but thanks for your effort.

First of all thanks for the palm trees.. I'll test em later to see if they work correctly... Secondly... I am sure the result you achieved could have been better if you had a couple of days more.. We all know what happens when the client wants the project finished yesterday... For the amount of time you had the picture is nice, as for changes you can make em later when you will have some spare time.. I aggree about the people, also I am not sure about the GI in the scene... you could add a bit dirt in the concrete that touches the sea (always it is brown - black) and tweak the water a bit more...
