Default Surfs Up: A True Story

http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/surfsup/

Im curious if Sony animated the waves by hand or if they developed a wave generator for this film.

I wonder if they made all the animators take surfing lessons? Now that could be some great footage!

Well, for Pixar's Finding Nemo, they had the crew take scuba diving lessons and scuba around coral reefs to get the feeling of the environment they wanted to portray, so I wouldn't be surprised if Sony sent its crew to North Shore or something.

The peices at the end are CG....could be very easlily be RealFlow.

Many earlier shots are live footage with surfing Cg elements match'd and comp'd, in my opinion
