I don't. But the technique would be to use a map on a sphere. But why buy maps when you can make your own? The C4D SKY module does fantastic work (noise-based, not photo) and can be animated, and baked to a spherical map.

Baking isnt something i know much about let alone baking an
animated sky. How do i create a noise based animated sky and then bake the noise based sky onto a spherical map?

You would use the built-in SKY function (C4D 9.5 and up), then use a pre-set object in the browse objects menu for just that function--baking a sky to a sphere.

I'm not going into detail unless I know you will be going that route. The suggestion of buying sky maps is perfectly fine, too.

Ernest;
I would like to go down this route for definite and would appreciate any
help you could give me, but if its to lengthy a process for you to describe here on the forum perhaps you could point me in the direction of a
good tutorial for this topic.

Thanks either way

First open C4D and try some stock skies out. Look in the plugins pulldown for the sky system. Find a sky that you like.

I think there is a tutorial, maybe its a video, on the 9.5 instalation discs.

The baking is really easy, and would be the last step, so get the sky setup the way you like rendering with C4D.

I took the tutorial on texture baking and now understand the concept of it.
I think the idea is to save on render times which i have grasped when
creating still shots but im still confused how this works when creating
animations.

To create the baked texture for the sky dome... do i select the preset
sky to my liking then select a sphere primitve object then select bake
object from the render settings. Once this is done do i locate and apply
the baked texture back onto the sphere?

First you play with some skies, decide if they're what you want, get the hang of animating one.

I haven't grasp the concept of baking yet and heard it does wonders for your render times..

i think a skyanimation is a simple yet effective way to create great effects to renderings, I'll love to learn how this is done as well...anyfeedback for us please post
