Default my pitch to get to DMVC 2008 - what do you think?

Well, here's an email I'm composing to the partners to hopefully get my foot in the door at DMVC 2008. Let me know what you think if you're up for it...and maybe it will help you with some ideas on how to get there too

Thanks,

Email:

Hope all is well. I'll try to make this brief as I know your inboxes fill very fast. Below is some information on an annual conference that I've followed for the past couple years and would like to suggest that David and I (or just myself, if it's cost prohibitive) try to make an appearance this year. I think there is going to be an incredible amount of valuable information shared at this event that we could bring back to our firm.

I mentioned in our Partner/Associate meeting yesterday that the next step in advancing our visual capabilities is to begin spreading techniques and methods to more employees throughout the firm; break down the "pockets of knowledge" barriers. It is my intention to begin to set up in-formal seminars and gatherings for the people in our firm to come to and share knowledge of how to create more interesting content and graphics. I have some of my own personal experiences I could share, however the presenters at this conference are the people in the industry I have learned from.

valuable topics covered in the conference I think we could benefit from directly
- Most importantly, what are other firms doing that is successful and how can we incorporate it here.
- Image composition and balance. A lot of what is successful about images that our firm isn't producing is just a matter of teaching appropriate image composition.
- BIM workflows and pipelines that other people are using in the industry. How are they using Revit and BIM to efficiently in their visualizations and design pipelines (Is there something we're missing and could do better?)
- Overall production work flows and techniques used by cutting edge visualization and archicture firms.

The point here is that I have (and continue to) research these topics extensively, and have come up with some approaches and solutions I think may work, but I can only accomplish so much. I think gathering the knowledge of these industry leaders would shed light on many things I could not have discovered on my own. I think sharing information acquired at the conference with many people in our firm (through these informal seminars), will help keep our firm a leader in our industry."

Appreciate any feedback,

Michael
