Unhappy Budget laptop advice

Hi guys,

I'm owed 5k from a client who has decided not to pay me (an issue all unto itself) but in the mean time, I was hoping you hardware gurus could point me to a budget laptop from Dell that I could use for a short time, good enough to get up to speed on Max and VRay. Im a LW and EI user now, and I cant wait to dig into Max and Ray.

Until I can get a new desktop system for serious 2d and 3d projects, mainly just to learn and do stills and Ill also need to run the Adobe suite in the $800 to $1500 range.

I had my unit all picked out, from great advice here, when the client decided to screw me. 3 months work down the drain. So now my wife is going to charge a new Dell on our Discover card. (ouch)

thanks a bunch, arnie

Arnold,

Because of the Vista Delay, manufacturers will be falling over themselves this Xmas trying to sell computers. I highly suggest watching...

and

Daily for deals. There was just a crazy laptop deal recently that was practically a 2ghz core2duo with a gb of ram, and multiyear warranty for 800.
