It can vary, it's just a warning so you don't go 2D and then have to re-invent the wheel. You can however do whatever you like for the two.

It should show the context somehow yes. That's why we provided a model of the tower and terrain. You should know from the image that this interpretive center is for the Tower of Hercules and not just a random rendering of a building.
