Re: Week #3 WIPs and Renders
I'll talk my way through as I progress with this week's photo.
First, I try to find some textures to match.
I checked my collection and didn't have that exact pattern.
I checked online and found something that is close, but no BMP map.
So I made a BMP map in photoshop by copying the image, playing with the curves to stress the colours to go either white or black.
It's not perfect, but it has a 3D look to it when I take it into the material slot.
Then I tackled modeling the tap.
I'm sure there are a few ways to do this (cylinder with bend modifier), but the shape cries out for a spline with some lofts, so that what I did.
I made a number of circles (2mm difference in size) and then lofted them along varies percentages of the length of the path spline.
I'll probably tweak it a bit more to get that fancy shape at the base, but it's fairly close now.
Next I'll do a spline for the vase on the right and lathed it, but that'll be later tonight.
