this is something i hear a lot around the office. My response is typically to the tune of, if you learned illustrator (which we have here) you'd realize why you wouldn't do that type of work in photoshop.

in many respects impression is more like illustrator than photoshop, except it lacks the features one would seek out when things start to go awry with the file.

Also i hate how everyone seems to call it "impressions" what the heck, it's not plural!

all in all impression is a simple program to do some simple tasks. It's designed to do a few specific tasks which it can most times perform. To give it any more credit than that isn't neccesary.

If you already have a working knowledge of photoshop or illustrator it wont make your life any easier, whereas if you have no idea what photoshop or illustrator are, it may be PERFECT for you.
