Years ago, when I was in highschool. Our school would open up the sports fields for parking whenever there was a big rugby match on at the stadium down the road. Every year a particular farmer and big time supporter of the team would drive 6 hours just to watch a game. Each time he would present the teacher and the grounds man a bottle of brandy. These were $300 bottles from the farmers own farm and brewrey. Of course the teacher accepted but the grounds mans handed the bottle back in disgust saying that he doesn't pollute his body with alcohol.

So yes check before you send alcohol, but I am sure the gesture will be appreciated.
