Default SU model and Maxwell Materials

Hi guys! Whats up ? (apart from sky)
Lately I was playing a bit in Maxwell studio, I made a model in SU and esported as a maxwell file. I imported the scene to maxwell and I wanted to render but first I wanted to apply some fancy materials that Maxwell has. But the problem is I dont kno how. I went to that material windows, choose the material I want and I dont how to apply the material on to my model. Could anyone please point how to do that or give me a link of some tutorial that goes through that stuff. I was looking on google but nothing was found . Sorry for the trouble guys.
Thx.

P.S

When I menage to finish I show it you I got crazy imagination !!

And I got plugin for sketchup to export files to maxwell, would this plugin work with SU 6 ?

Well if you're using studio, you can just drag it on to your object in the list, maybe even into the viewport....

You should be able to get materials into Studio with the material browser, then you'll have a list of materials in a panel inside Studio. You can drag and drop them to the objects in the object list panel. (I should be more descriptive but I've got almost no experience in Sketchup-to-Maxwell - when I was using Maxwell I was doing it out of 3DSMax and applying materials in Max, which has a better system for setting these things up.)

To my knowledge, if you have the official maxwell plugin for sketchup then it will work... why should'nt it? I too like Ajlynn was using the 3dsmax material editor for placing maxwell material in my scene and the external maxwell material editor for editing. Applying materials in maxwell itself is annoying for me, the whole interface just doesnt suit me. If you still want to learn applying materials in maxwell - get the manual and read it. Youl find it on maxwells official web page.
With SU once you install the plugin - youll probably just have to hit render in SU and automatically maxwell rendering system will open on its own as it did with 3dsmax.

cheers

Well.... is there a different software that gives the same render as Maxwell but its easier to apply materials, reflection light etc ?

Are you talking about similarity in rendering? In other words are you looking for an unbiased rendering engine?

If so you can visit:

http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/ - thats the Indigo rendering engine
get the full noncommercial version for free - didnt use it but might be good but i dont know if its out for SU

www.fryrender.com - maxwell style stuff - a team from the same country in city a couple of miles apart from the location of the nextlimit team that made maxwell - talk about coincidence --- buts its still in early stages of production - and no demo available - dunno if will be out for SU

There are those "unbiased" options, but for a lot of scenarios I don't think unbiased is ready for prime time yet. Until I get one of those 80-core CPUs Intel keeps promising, I'll gladly have my renderer take a few shortcuts to lose 5% of the accuracy and quadruple the speed.

80-core intels? Yikes!! Whatll be the cooling system for that?? Niagra Falls??
I heard that intel has trouble getting the cooling done for their quad core xeons...

Yap im sticking with good 'ol vray and some PS postproduction... never again will i cross the path with evil unbiased renderers... unless of course thoes 80core come out
