Default need advice on upgradeing Video Card

looking for options. pci-e is fine, but looking for a card that will excel with max9 and possibly xp-64..

so far looking at the nVidia GeForce 7950 GX2
and
nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX

is anyone using these cards?

Need to get something ordered mid of next week for a really tight 12 day turnaround.

Thanks,

I can't vouch for the 8800, but I've used a 7900gs with max, and I have a quadro 1300 at work with the maxtreme drivers installed. I wish I had some framerate numbers for you, but I really believe the quadro out performs the newer gamer card in Max, even though it's down on Mhz and RAM. You can get a quadro 1500 for around $500.

Hopefully someone on here can validate my claims...

Chuck

max9 is more setup for dx9 and I have heard thru the grapevine that max10 is even more that way.. along with if you plan to upgrade to vista, forget opengl. its all DX10.

so just weighting my options,

Thanks,

Then you probably want the 8800. Me, I'd take the Quadro and not upgrade to Vista.

Not upgradeingto Vista yet, but from what it looks from the way the software is going the quadros wont be around for long.
