Default My first effort at Vray HDRI lighting

Hi everyone,

This is my first time having a go at using Vray HDRI lighting, and any tips on how to improve my pics would be greatly appreciated.

i do apoloigise to start with becuase these pics arnt complete. the materials and background etc are only temp, the main foucs on these pics was more just to have a go at the lighting, which i know came out pretty dark.

Thanks in advance for any help.

brrrrr....looks chilly. It's looking fresh so far but definitely could use some warm direct light in combination with your HDRI. Sometimes you can get some nice hard shadows with a bright light source HDRI, but I find most of the time it's best to use them in combination with a direct light to cast some hard shadows...that is, if you are trying to portray a sunny day.

So far looking pretty good though. Just as a quick improvement I would drag your HDRI environment to the reflection slot too. I don't see your background reflected in your windows yet.

give us some updates as you continue.

Deselecting the "Vignetting" check box on the physical camera will brighten the edges of your image too.

hey thanks for the comments, i always wondered y my edges were so damn dark, who ever thought of that setting being default on in vray should be dragged out in the middle of the road and shot in the foot.

and the main reason the whole pic looks so dank and dark is because thats basically the only hdri image i have atm, i have been told of a few places i can get some more freebees, so once i get my hands on them and brighten up my pic, ill repost it.

Not bad Josh. Just throw in a nice direct light mate.

Good to see another Brissy person on here.

Hey there Ky, not really sure if i count as a true brissy person, i only moved up here to try and get my foot in the door to do arch vis. but stuck in mark ups within an architectural firm. arrrgh! hahaha, but ill get there one day.

all my work is self taught and done at home in the wee hrs of the nite/ morning, whenever i get some time to do some.

Same boat as me. Still teaching myself till the wee hours. Plenty of work in Bris for it.

Keep it up.

Hey, this is a bit of an update on my previous renders, sorry its taken a bit of time, too much work on at work.

Anyway, im not that happy with these, still cant get the lighting with the hdri correct. im still trying to work out how i can warm up the overall pic a bit, i might have to try throwing in a direct light with a slight yellow tint, see if that helps at all. still havent touched materials etc yet.

any comments or advice is more then welcome as usual.
