I hope it's ok to post things like this here....

First review of modo 203. I was blown away by some of the renders. I think it could have promise for arch vis. Now if it only had DWG support...

Isn't DXF enough? Too much emphasis is placed on direct Autodesk file links. There are easy workarounds for all 3d apps.

DXF will probably be the best it will ever have. DWG outside of anything 'AutoDesk' will always have issues. Even so with the overlays the 3D geometry is far from "clean", much unneeded geometry. Well anyway dxf with poly line support makes it really fairly easy in Modo to model up just about anything from scratch and ultra clean-connected. There is no better way to do it with large scene files anyway.

Downloaded 203 on Friday. Was more interested in the faster render times and UV improvements. Been using Modo for ArchViz modeling for over 2 years, it works and keeps getting better. However I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to modeling, a whole pile of unconnected primatives in Max or C4D does not a modeler or effeicient model make, imho.

Not for me. I've never had success with DXF output...ever. But I use MicroStation to build so I'm not sure if this is MicroStation's issue or what...but I hate DXF.

I suppose that's fair enough but if you owned arguably the best modeller on the market would you still model in Microstation?

That's only half the battle though. The other half is working with architects who send us DWGs, geo-referenced tif's, and things like that. I need to be able to use DWG. It's a must...especially if I need to move cross-software.
