Hi there,

My name is Alexandra, and I am a 3d artist working on generating computer models, as well as interior design scenes. I have just joined this forum and am looking forward to joining in the discussions.

So far, I've created desks, office chairs, bookcases, lamps, using mainly IKEA, Pier 1, Grand & Toy catalogues. I have a few questions:

- are interior designers intersted in using computer generted models for their designs and layouts? if so what programs are best to use for my set of models?
- what styles, scenes and furniture should I be designing to best suit interior designers' needs? I want to create furniture that is easy to use, and is widely distributed, so it can be used by the designers for their current projects.

I am capable of producing the needed designs in 3d in a photorealistic professional manner, I would really like your suggestions as to how I can better work with other artists & interior designers.

Which software Your are using???
Seen so many good software now
anyway....welcome to this forum.... I'm also new in this 3d field. My job dictated me to learn faster by myself, then I think here I can learn fast cause nowing the problem was very good but solving it better.
Sometime I like to solve other people problem by knowing just few knowleage.

Thanks for your reply. I actually have my models available in Max, Maya, & Lightwave, so anybody using any of those programs can use my models. What programs are you using for your work? and what is it that you do? I like learning also, and as I am building new models I am learning more which is really exciting.

I am trying to figure out the current market of interir designers and how much is 3d being used within this market - do you know?

I'm working as architect assistant doing perspective for interior and exterior. Before I'm using 3ds max 8, I'm using SketchUp. It was good and easy to use but can't get realistic image. I mean that software has a limitation but it give me understanding on how to form 3d object because I'm just using Autocad 2d and photoshop before. But now I'm using 3d s max 8 + vray (almost a year). I think using 3ds max 8 was the best for architecture because alot people using it (that mean easy to search info + tutorial). It can use to model other thing like car, human and every object plus it was easier then lightwave and maya but both give better product. It has so many plugin to choose also.

This was a good question for people just want to wet their feet on this industry. For me that base on your quality and how you can deliver product to your client. After all client will really want you to do their job...cause your quality and their want winning the battle.
I don't know which background are you come from but this all about art. When you can make images and animation very realistic + plus the composition correct then you are in the right direction. If you have photograph knowleage and very detail on looking every thinks near your then you have that quality on it..... just using internet to send your resume to your future client.... after all tell me your story.....
