Default 3d max computation and multi CPU

Hello

I've noticed that max 9 does not use all my processor cores when making complex calculations like welding lots of vertices, complex mesh edits etc....

I'm using 2x dual core opteron with 32 bit max 9 + VRAY

I have managed to overcome the problem with rendering using maxscript, but
don't know how to utilise my full CPU power for general max work

any suggestions would be appreciated - I'm thinking that maybe i have to upgrade to 64bit?

Most of the Max operations are not multi-threaded and can not use multi CPUs. Vray should be using all of them but when editing you might as well use the other 3 cores to look for aliens.

I spoke to Autodesk and they tell me that everything will be multithreaded in later releases - who knows when that will be.

I managed to sort the rendering in VRAY with a bit of maxscript
