hi,
you can use the mxed wizard and chose brick or you can start with a brick material from the mxm gallery ( http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/...&mode=0&id=444 ) or the arroway brick-20 from the standart maxwell library and change the textures (diffuse, bump, reflection) - after you have created them in ps... |

the quickest way for me is to adjust the color, suturation and levels.
- i open the texture in ps - bump up the contrast a little - reduce the saturation to 0 to get b/w - don't switch it to greyscale cause mxw don't like it... - invert the map, cause the brighter seams have to be deeper - then i adust the histogram and brightness/contrast until i get a usable result (to remove bright spots or shadow lines you can reduce the tonal range) ...the same for the reflection map you should take a look at some examples... here are very good textures including bump and reflection map: http://www.arroway.de/textures/01/de/index.html Last edited by numerobis; April 22nd, 2007 at 01:46 AM. |

Right - a Maxwell roughness map is like a glossiness or specular map, inverted, and it probably needs to have its levels adjusted to get it right. Erm, if none of this is making sense, maybe you should stick to presets and wizards for now, while reading up on Photoshop and rendering basics.
