Ok, I'll admit it. The hot tub idea isn't panning out. It seems to compete too much with the pool. I'm going to go back to an original intention for the foreground, landscape.

Just saw this question...nah, those tiles are standard size...12inches. It's deceiving cuz the house is really not that large as the architecture would have you believe.

Aaron,

I like the 1st one better, I think it allows options to cast more interesting shadows (for instance in the covered porch areas.) It also highlights the main focus of the image. While the 2nd one does have a different effect, your main focus is mostly in shade... that said if you are planning for 2ndary accent lighting, it wouldn't be so much an issue as they will help retrieve the focus back.

I like your idea but in my opinion you should find someother for background; currently it's too much poor.
We're waiting for the rest. Great beginning.

Hey even without textures you realy managed to catch the feeling in your story. And I don't completely agree with crazy homeless guy that you need to show more sky in the upper half of the image, because the house filling up the picture gives you a hint of luxuriance. Like I said, POV in your 1st post is closer to what I would like to see than POVs you posted later...
