Hi all! First of all I want to say that it is great to have the opportunity to enter the challenge among such a talented group of people. I know this is going to be a great journey. I wish you all of you the best of lucks. Here is my first WIP. I just wanted to get a fell for the concept for this sketch so the camera view is not final. Let me know what your thoughts are so far. I will post another sketch in a few hours.

Fantastic start. You know how ice cliffs shear off? What would it be like if the ice has broken apart some of the major elements of the building? Perhaps that would integrate the building better with the surrounding ice and snow. I'm getting visions of the Statue of Liberty in Planet of the Apes. I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

I think somebody likes color! Ah, I'm right there with you, although the blue is a little hard on the eyes. I know it's just conceptual though.
For me, the two masses on the left and right are competing for attention. My eyes can't decide whether to look at the architecture on the left or the giant elephant leg block of ice on the right. But I suppose that could be your intention, since these elements are definitely at odds with each other. Looking forward to the progress. |

@Aaron: Yes, I know what you are saying; I also think that the ice would help to integrate the building more into the composition. Thanks for pointing that out.
@Tim: LOL. This scheme is pure conceptual so the colors are not final. The image in the background is a place holder. I will keep your advice in mind. Last edited by CHE; April 30th, 2007 at 09:09 AM. |

Here is a different view. I am still playing with composition but I think that I am going to use this view for the final composition. This is still a conceptual sketch so colors and such will not be this dramatic. Let me know what you think.
