Default column grid / standard steel columns

hello everybody,
could you provide me some information about standard column grid for factory planning and also typical column-grids used for factories in the US.
maybe also a link to information about the standard diameters for round columns (steel).
is 8" a typical dimension of a round steel column ?
is 34 ft a typical column grid ?
what is the modular system for brick walls /concrete walls ?

thanks

michael

Default Re: column grid / standard steel columns

Standard warehousing column (Steel or RC) grids (Europe, Asia and almost the entire world) are:

6meter (centerlines)
with 12m and 24m spans of the roof trusses,

and 6m and 12 spans to any Mezzanines (flooring if required for offices usually front elevation) above Zero level.

6m is the standard size due to the way the racking is arranged within the warehousing, pallet size and forklift trucks.
